Terrible Yellow Eyes show at Gallery Nucleus

I have to say that the Terrible Yellow Eyes show at Gallery Nucleus was perfect; every element came together to create a wonderful experience. As I understand it, TYE drew one of the largest turnouts in Gallery Nucleus' history.

Ben Zhu was kind enough to extend me an invitation to turn TYE, the online collection into a gallery show. This pretty much exceeded any expectation I had for the project and really threw me for a happy loop. Here are some photos of the event. Enjoy.

Special thanks to Joel Fisher for the photography.

My wife, Erin and me.

After a while it couldn't be stopped and people started drawing on the wall. You are sure to see some familiar contributors below :

I'm just happy people enjoy the collection, I've been thrilled and humbled by the response. In the end it is simply a testament to just how much people love Maurice Sendak's stories and pictures.

There are two links I would like to point you towards regarding the show.

The first is Nucleus' official photographs of the show :

And secondly, you can view the entire show online and purchase some of the remaining original work as well.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and supported the project!

Nate Wragg is one of my all time favorite artists. He's done some incredible work and been involved in some amazing projects. I'm very pleased to post his contribution.

I got the chance to see the piece in person at the Nucleus show. It's 3-D! I mean, this is greatest diorama in the world. It was so unexpected, it really blew me away.

The idea is touching as well. I just love it all around.

The King's Garden

Kazu Kibuishi is a great friend, an incredible artist, and a wonderful story-teller.

He's the creator of the Flight graphic novel anthologies and Amulet series along with some of his other works, Copper and Daisy Cutter.

Kazu is a tremendously busy guy and I'm thrilled he found the time to create a piece for our site. He's one of the most generous and kind people I've met and I'm honored to post his TYE contribution.

Visit Kazu and his many creations over at his site.

Jason Caffoe is an awesome guy I met at SDCC this past July. He works as a colorist for Kazu Kibuishi and does some stupefyingly great work. I'm very glad to have him on board.

Filter thing

I'm honored to have Geoff McFetridge's most recent piece for the cover of Filter as a TYE contribution! The issue details the upcoming Where the Wild Things Are film adaptation.

You've likely seen Geoff's work in many different places but just didn't know it. He created all the hand lettering for the upcoming Where the Wild Things Are film adaptation as well as numerous works for TV and print. Truthfully he's done a lot more than I could list here.

Visit Geoff over at his site.
